Toxic Burden - Is it preventing you from losing weight?

In today's world, toxins surround us - they are in the air we breathe, the things we drink, the food we eat - as well as in our homes, businesses, and cars. Our bodies were only designed to handle so many of these toxins and when that limit is reached, they start to affect our health. This edition of your Overcoming Weight Loss Resistance Newsletter will tackle the topic of how toxic burden can upset your weight loss efforts and even make it almost impossible for you to lose weight.

Toxic Soup

As we stated above, it is impossible in today's world to live a toxin-free life. Rather than give up and give in, we can support our body's detoxification efforts, but first, we have to know what these toxins are doing to us.

Toxins are basically any substance that the body cannot use and must eliminate. Some are created by the body itself during regular metabolism or immune function. Most of our toxins, however, come from our environment: our foods contain pesticides and herbicides as well as food colors and preservatives, we breathe air that contains dozens if not hundreds of chemicals, much of the water we drink is contaminated with heavy metals, drug residues and pollutants and we consume substances that increase our toxic load, such as alcohol, cigarettes/cigars and medications.

These toxins can directly cause many harmful reactions in the body, including disrupting proper digestion and elimination, creating hormone and neurotransmitter imbalances (which will affect your mood, energy, focus, concentration, pain levels, etc.), decreasing energy production and disrupting your body chemistry.

Our body has several specific mechanisms to modify and eliminate these substances, but its capacity is limited. These limitations are more pronounced if the diet does not include adequate nutrients to supply this never-ending need. When the body's detoxification limits are reached, the toxins in our bodies start to accumulate, and the most common way for the body to protect you from these toxins is to store them in body fat. However, the drawback to this method is that the body will do everything possible to NOT burn away that body fat, as to do so would mean those toxins would be released causing the body's toxic burden to increase. Your body will literally slow down your metabolism in an effort to NOT burn body fat that is being used to reduce the body's toxic burden.

Eliminating the Burden

As toxicity is so prevalent in our society, we have to identify and help the body eliminate these toxins in order to achieve lasting weight loss. We have developed a Toxicity Self-Test to help you determine if toxic burden may be one of the areas preventing you from losing weight. If you'd like to perform more in-depth testing to determine your exact imbalances, order the Organix Basic or Organix Comprehensive Profile. These tests will provide you specific recommendations to help you eliminate your toxic burden.

In addition, there are several things you can do to support your body's detoxification efforts:

It can take a while to eliminate your toxic burden, but the results are worth it. Professional supervision and guidance can dramatically speed up the process, allowing you to get to your goals faster, with less frustration and uncertainty.
